Tulips in a Vase

^  - - - - - - - - - - - Tulips in a Vase
Paul Cézanne
Oil on Paper
This elegant painting is called Tulips in a Vase by Paul Cézanne. It was painted in 1888 to 1890 and is currently hung in the Norton Simon Museum. Paul Cézanne began painting floral still lifes since the 1870's along side his friend Camille Passarro.
This lovely painting is probably painting for his wife who he was visiting in Paris. This painting is one of the only two he painted with tulips as the main focus for his still life portraits. Interestingly, this painting was the first painting Norton Simon purchased from one of the old masters.
